Our approach

ANZ is committed to sustainable development, we actively support and encourage our customers to understand the impacts of their activities on resources and improve their social and environmental performance.

We have clear policies to guide our engagement with customers in socially and environmentally sensitive sectors where we do business, specifically forestry and forests, water, energy, and extractive industries. These policies apply wherever we operate, and cover products and services that we provide to our business customers such as lending and financing, capital raising, equity investments, corporate advisory and capital markets.

In 2011, we conducted a review of our sensitive sector policies to ensure that they remain consistent with our Corporate Responsibility (CR) framework, and they incorporate feedback from external stakeholders.
