
Alistair Currie is Group Chief Operating Officer, responsible for technology, shared services and operations including ANZ’s hubs, property and major projects.
Prior to his appointment, Alistair was Managing Director, Transaction Banking, Institutional.
Alistair joined ANZ from HSBC in November in 2008, where he had 18 years of global experience in transaction services, trade finance and commercial banking. He was previously President and CEO of HSBC Taiwan, where he led a staff of more than 3,500. Other positions include senior roles in Asia, the Middle East, the UK and the US, including COO of Wells Fargo HSBC Trade Bank in San Francisco.
As Regional Head of Trade Services for HSBC Asia Pacific, Alistair was responsible for trade finance, supply chain and structured trade in 21 countries, and further developed HSBC’s market-leading trade finance position in the region.
Alistair was born in Scotland and grew up in Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Science (Management) from Imperial College, University of London, UK and a Bachelor of Science (Design & Technology) from Brunel University, UK.
