Verified by Visa is a free service that provides extra protection when you shop online at participating Verified by Visa merchants using your ANZ Visa card. It lets you use a personal password while making purchases online, giving you the added assurance that only you can use your ANZ Visa card. This protection is similar to entering your PIN at an ATM.

How does it work?

You will create your Verified by Visa password and Verified by Visa personal message when you enrol for Verified by Visa.

Your card will be recognised as a Verified by Visa enabled credit card When you shop online at a Verified by Visa merchant. This will activate a two-way confirmation:

1. Your personal message will be displayed confirming that you will be authenticating your Verified by Visa password with ANZ.
2. You will then be asked to enter your chosen Verified by Visa password to identify yourself.

How to enrol for Verified by VISA

Step 1 To enrol, go shopping online at a participating Verified by Visa merchant. When you are ready to buy, enter your ANZ Visa card details in the payment page.

Step 2 You will automatically be prompted for Verified by Visa enrolment. Enter the following details:

1. Name shown on your ANZ Visa card
2. Signature panel code - the last three digits on the signature panel on the back of your card
3. Card expiry date
4. Your date of birth.

Click the 'Enrol Now' button.

Note: none of this information will be disclosed to the merchant.

Step 3 You will now be asked to create a personal message and Verified by Visa password.

Make sure you remember your password; you will be prompted for it each time you shop online at a Verified by Visa store.

Click the Submit button.

Step 4 A confirmation page will be displayed. Your ANZ Visa card is now enrolled for Verified by Visa.

Verified by Visa merchants

Verified by Visa merchants are participating online merchants that offer the enhanced security of Verified by Visa.

These merchants require you to enter your Verified by Visa password to identify yourself before processing your purchase.
