Accessing your super

The Federal Government has applied rules about the age at which you can access your superannuation, no matter when you retire. Generally you cannot access your super fund until you reach the 'preservation age' and have permanently retired from work.

Below is table on accessing preserved benefits.

As well as preserved benefits, there are:

• restricted non-preserved benefits - e.g. member contributions made between 1 July 1983 and 30 June 1999 can only be released when the member ceases employment with their current employer
• unrestricted and non-preserved benefits - can be withdrawn at any time.
