May 2012 - Hoax SMS

Customers have recently been targeted with a hoax SMS leading to a false bank website.
The SMS asks ANZ customers to follow a link provided in the SMS. When the link in the SMS is clicked on, a false ANZ Internet Banking log on page appears and account information may be captured if details are entered.

Under no circumstances should you click on the link, reply to the SMS or provide any of the requested details. Always ensure that you only log on to ANZ Internet Banking by typing www.anz.com into the address bar, rather than following links to the ANZ website. Disregard any emails or SMS' that advise otherwise.

Customers have recently been targeted with a hoax email containing an attachment displaying a false bank website.The email asks ANZ customers to verify their account information by opening the attachment provided in the e-mail. When the attachment in the email is opened, a false ANZ Internet Banking page appears and account information may be captured if details are entered.
Under no circumstances should you open the attachment, reply to the email or provide any of the requested details.

Always ensure that you only log on to ANZ Internet Banking by typing www.anz.com into the address bar, rather than following links to the ANZ website. Disregard any emails that advise otherwise.

May 2012 - Malware

Some customer’s computers have recently been infected with a new type of malicious software or malware. This is a destructive program that poses as a harmless application or has been loaded without your knowledge.

This malware is capable of capturing Internet Banking Customer Registration Numbers and Password information. If your computer is infected with this piece of malware, you may see a modified Internet Banking log on page where the Customer Registration Number and associated Password are requested separately. This behaviour is shown in the below fraudulent log on screens:

If you do notice the fraudulent split log on screens while attempting to log into Internet Banking, immediately stop the log on process and contact the ANZ Internet Banking Help Desk on 13 33 50.
